The Walt Disney Company finally made some announcements on Thursday regarding its upcoming streaming service. First up, we finally have an official name and it’s Disney+. This name had been floating around for some time now, but it is finally official.
Secondly, the launch window has been set for “late 2019.” While 2019 has always been in the cards, the late part is somewhat surprising. With Star Wars The Mandalorian in full production, the announcement that it will be in the neighborhood of a year before we see it is a little odd.
Once the service launches all of the Disney content will leave Netflix, so be prepared for this to be a part of your streaming budget towards the end of 2019.
