It seems that CBS isn’t ready to say goodbye to the Big Bang Theory franchise yet and is developing a new spinoff.

Young Sheldon is coming to an end this season, but it seems Sheldon’s family may be sticking around for a bit. According to Deadline, a new spinoff focusing on the characters of Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) is in the works.
Sources are saying Jordan and Osment are in the process of working out deals, and the series is poised for a straight-to-series order for a 13-episode first season slated to launch in fall 2024. There will be one large change, however, from Young Sheldon in that it will be a return to a multi-camera format for the franchise.
The Big Bang Theory revealed that Georgie has been married twice, meaning his marriage to Many would not last, but there is a lot of runway timewise for the series to play with.
No word as of yet if any other characters would appear in the new series, but it’s hard to imagine we wouldn’t see them drop in from time to time.
There is another Big Bang Theory spinoff in the works at Max, but it is unknown at this time what the concept is.
While sitcom spinoffs aren’t common today, they were once a staple of the network landscape. All in the Family served as the launching pad for both The Jeffersons and Maude. Cheers led to the launch of Frasier, and while it didn’t launch Wings, they did share a universe. There were many more examples over the years, but it is no longer a common practice.
Young Sheldon’s final season will debut Feb. 15, 2024. A one-hour series finale will air on May 16 at 8pm Eastern on CBS.
