With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes now over,TV shows are returning to production. CBS already announced when its series will again be on air, and that the majority of them will have shortened seasons. In particular, Young Sheldon will return on Feb. 15, 2024 for a shortened 14-episode season that has now been revealed to be its last.

This season marks the last of a three-year renewal that was announced in 2021. Additionally, the series was beginning to run up against events that had been revealed in The Big Bang Theory over the years.

“As a prequel to one of the biggest comedies, Young Sheldon proved lightning can strike twice,” Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment said in a statement. “It set itself apart with a remarkable cast that felt like a family from the first moment we saw them on screen and brought characters to life with unique heartfelt stories that drew audiences in from the start.”

Iain Armitage, who plays the younger version of Sheldon Cooper, issued a statement via social media, saying, “In case you wondered, I love my family. There’s about 200 more people who make Young Sheldon happen and I’m grateful for each of them. We will make the best 7th season we can possibly make- and behind the scenes there will be lots of laughter and lots of tears because I love all of these people so much.”

A one-hour series finale will air on May 16 at 8pm Eastern on CBS.
