The CW announced that Riverdale has been renewed for season 7, Nancy Drew has been renewed for season 4, The Flash will speed into season 9, Kung Fu has been renewed for season 3, Superman and Lois will be flying into season 3, and All American will score a touchdown in season 5.
There are numerous shows that have not yet been renewed as of yet, and those announcements will more than likely come as we draw closer to the annual upfront presentation for advertisers. With the network in a state of flux, however, it’s really anyone’s guess which shows will survive and which will not.
“As we prepare for the 2022-23 season, these scripted series, along with the alternative series we renewed earlier, will serve as the start of a solid foundation utilizing some of our most-watched series for us to build on for next year and beyond,” said Mark Pedowitz, Chairman and CEO, The CW Network. “These dramas are also important to our overall digital strategy, as they are some of our most-streamed and socially-engaged programming, and we look forward to adding more new and returning series to help strengthen and expand our multiplatform footprint.”
While the original airings of series on The CW don’t bring in the largest audiences, the series tend to do well on streaming platforms and when sold internationally into other markets.
