The Boys Trailer Debuted at NYCC 2018

If you had superpowers is there anything you wouldn’t try to get away with? Even if you were a hero? Garth Ennis explored this concept in The Boys and now it looks as though Amazon will do the same in the TV adaptation.

Amazon took the time at New York Comic Con to debut the first trailer for The Boys – and also announce fan favorite Simon Pegg had joined the cast – and it looks like it’s going to be fun. While numerous series over the years – Watchmen and Squadron Supreme come to mind immediately – have skewered the concepts of what heroes do, this one appears to be far more reality-based.

We don’t know an exact premiere date, but we’re very up for this series. Amazon is killing it with original content right now.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes. THE BOYS is scheduled for a 2019 release.
