Despite a total lack of updates, it appears that Rian Johnson is still in development on his long-promised Star Wars trilogy.

Despite nyktuoke Star Wars announcements over the past few years, there has been a clear lack of updates on Rian Johnson’s proposed Star Wars trilogy. The news first surfaced following the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but things were uncertain due to the critical reception of that film.
There has been an update here or there, but they have been few and far between.
Author Sariah Wilson recently won a charity auction that gave her a chance to have a private conversation with Johnson, and she cut to the chase quickly. ‘I’m just going to post this now because I can see that I’m going to get a lot of requests – Yes, Rian’s SW trilogy is still on. No dates or timelines because he has other projects going on, but it is happening.” She went on to say, “THAT IS ALL I KNOW ABOUT IT.”

When Johnson can work on it is a question. He is currently inΒ development of a Knives Out sequel, and no schedule has been announced for that film as of yet.
There has been no indication as to what Johnson’s trilogy will cover, but considering there is about 25,000 years of established Star Wars timeline, he has a lot of room to play around in.
