Once again Tom Cruise is showing he is the king of the box office.

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One took the top spot in its opening weekend with $56.2M for the three-day total, and $80M since its opening on Wednesday. Combined with its $155M from overseas, the film stands at $235M globally.

Second place went to Sound of Freedom with $27M for a new domestic total of $85.49M.

Insidious: The Red Door landed in third place with $13M for a new domestic total of $58.08M. It has taken in $64.5M in the foreign markets for a global total of $122.58M.

Fourth place went Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny with $12M for a new domestic total of $145.35M. It has taken in $157M at the foreign box offices for a global total of $302.35M.

Elemental landed in fifth place with $8.7M for a new domestic total of $125.28M. It has taken in $186.4M in foreign sales for a new global total of $311.68M.

This week’s wide releases are Barbie and Oppenheimer.
