Godzilla King of the Monsters Toys Break Cover a Bit Early

The Godzilla King of the Monsters toys aren’t due to hit shelves until this May, but it seems that one U.K. retailer may have broken cover early.

Animegami in the U.K. has posted a selection of the Jakks Pacific figures for Godzilla King of the Monsters on its site already. The company is currently taking preorders and says that the items have an estimated release date of May 2019.

There is one item that is a potential spoiler for the film, but we’re saving it to the bottom section of this post so you don’t accidentally see it if you want to avoid it.

First up we have the 12 and 24-inch versions of Godzilla himself. The latter appears to be a reissue of the 2014 24-inch figure – you can tell by the dorsal fins – so this will be a pass for diehard collectors unless you just need in the King of the Monsters packaging.

There will also be a sound mask if you have someone in your life who must pretend to be Godzilla.

The second group of figures includes two-packs of Monster Matchups, and this is where the potential spoiler comes in. The Godzilla vs. Mother set has the Big G glowing with red. In past Japanese movies when this has happened it has been referred to as Fire Godzilla, and usually means he’s about to die from burning too hot. There is every chance this was done just to make him look different enough so kids would be prompted to buy more than one of these packs. We simply won’t know until we see the film.

Then we have the Monster Packs for King Ghidorah and Rodan which come with destructible buildings.

It’s a good selection of products and we can’t wait to see them on store shelves.

Godzilla King of the Monsters hits theaters on May 31, 2019.
