Venom Sequel Moving Forward at Long Last

by Sean P. Aune | January 7, 2019January 7, 2019 4:00 pm EST

After what seemed like an inevitable announcement, Sony is finally moving ahead with a sequel to Venom. Kelly Marcel, one of the writers from the first film, will be returning for the sequel.

After a global box office haul of $855M, it was only a matter of time before this was announced. For now, Sony Pictures is not confirming the news, but Variety is still running with it as an exclusive.

With no official confirmation, there has also been no announcement of a release date. However, Sony recently dated an untitled Marvel sequel for Oct. 2020. It seems pretty obvious that is where Venom 2 will end up.

Tom Hardy is slated to return as Eddie Brock/Venom, while Michelle Williams is also expected to return. Considering the credits scene showing Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady, it feels as though we can predict Carnage will be the main villain of the film.

Expect more news on Venom 2 in the not too distant future.
