According to a report from Deadline, Ricci has joined the cast of Tim Burton’s Wednesday series for Netflix. What character she is playing is being kept under wraps, but it was confirmed she will not be playing an older version of Wednesday. The character is reportedly an entirely new addition to the Addams Family mythos.
Ricci was supposedly brought in following the departure of Thora Birch from the production. She has supposedly been working on the series for weeks in quiet, and filming on the series is expected to wrap in Romania by the end of the month.
Fans had been hoping for Ricci to be included in the series in some way following her performance in the 1990s films The Addams Family and Addams Family Values.
The series is being written by Al Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville) and directed by Burton. Jenna Ortega will be playing a teenage Wednesday during her time at Nevermore Academy. Joining Ortega and Ricci will be joined by Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams and Luis Guzman as Gomez Addams.
No word yet on when the series will make its debut on Netflix.
