Disney spent a good portion of Wednesday announcing new streaming projects, and amongst them was a second Star Wars series.
While Star Wars The Mandalorian is currently in production, Lucasfilm is already moving forward with another TV project, and this time it will focus on Cassian Andor from Star Wars Rogue One. Diego Luna will be reprising the role he originated in the prequel film.
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” Luna said in a statement. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
The series will, of course, be a prequel to Rogue One considering the events of that film. It was hinted at pretty thoroughly that Andor had quite a past, so there are sure to be quite a few stories to explore. Lucasfilm is referring to it as a spy thriller, so be set for a lot of intrigue.
With Disney Plus set to launch in late 2019, expect to see this series some time in 2020 at the earliest.
