It seems that it is once again time to ask yourself if you wish to take the red pill or the blue pill.
Variety is reporting that a fourth Matrix film is indeed in the works and that both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. Lana Wachowski is set to both write and direct the film that she started with her sister.
Speaking to Variety, Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich said, “We could not be more excited to be re-entering ‘The Matrix’ with Lana.” He went on to add, “Lana is a true visionary — a singular and original creative filmmaker — and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in ‘The Matrix’ universe.”
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends,” Wachowski said.
The fourth Matrix film is expected to begin filming at the start of 2020, but no word as of yet as to when it’s targeting a release date.
Is this a series that needs to continue? Apparently we’ll find out soon enough.
