CBS Eyeing Michelle Yeoh Led Star Trek Spinoff Series

CBS may already be working on its next Star Trek series it would seem. Following announcements of a new series featuring Picard and a new animated comedy, next it seems we’re in for a dose of espionage.

According to Deadline, CBS is working on a spin-off that would focus on Michelle Yeoh and the Mirror Universe version of Georgiou she played towards the end of season 1 of Discovery. The series would reportedly follow her adventures after joining Starfleet’s top secret Section 31 that was originally introduced in Deep Space Nine. According to teasers at New York Comic Con, we will see more of her involvement in season 2 of Discovery.

The spin-off is not a done deal yet and is apparently one of several concepts currently on the drawing board. CBS and Star Trek overseer Alex Kurtzman have stated the goal is to have some form of Star Trek on year round, so several ideas are said to be under consideration at this time.

Star Trek Discovery season 2 will premiere on CBS All Access on Jan. 17, 2019.
