Umbrella Academy renewed for season 2

The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for season 2 it appears.

Rumors have been circulating for some time now that Umbrella Academy season 2 has been ordered, but Netflix has yet to make an official announcement. The difference this time is Screen Rant not only says it has spoken with sources, but also has production dates. Reportedly season 2 will go into production in May and wrap up in September. This is two months shorter than production on season 1, but that isn’t unusual for shows in a second season.

Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, so it’s unclear where the team will head in season 2, especially considering the state they were in. As the show has already departed significantly from the comic, the world is pretty wide open as to what comes next.

We had some issues with The Umbrella Academy to be sure – especially now that Doom Patrol is doing such a good job showing us what a dysfunctional team looks like – but that doesn’t mean we won’t dive in again. If nothing else, we just really need answers, but it’s also always interesting to see how a series adjusts in its second go around.

The Umbrella Academy season 1 is currently available on Netflix globally.
