The Woman King trailer is giving us our first look at Viola Davis as General Nanisca and the fierce Agojie warriors she led.

The latest Viola Davis movie, The Woman King, is going to introduce more of the world to the story of the Agojie, female bodyguards of the Kingdom of Dahomey. They were established in the early 1700s and protected the nation until the early 1900s. At their peak, they numbered over six thousand and made up nearly a third of the nation’s army.
If they seem familiar, the Dora Milaje of Marvel Comics and movies are partially based upon them.
