Minions: The Rise of Gru wins July 4th weekend

First place went to Minions: The Rise of Gru this weekend with $108.5M setting on a new July 4th weekend opening. It took in $93.7M at the foreign markets, plus previews, for a global total of $221.6M.

Top Gun: Maverick came in second with $25.54M for a new domestic total of $564.01M, and a global total of $1.108B.

Third place went to Elvis with $19M for a new domestic total of $67.32M. Globally it sits at $113.52M.

Jurassic World: Dominion came in fourth with $15.65M for a new domestic total of $331.81M. The global total now stands at $828.04M.

Fifth place went to The Black Phone with $12.3M for a new domestic total of $47.46M. It has taken in $26.95M at the foreign markets for a global total of $76.71M.

This week’s major release is Thor: Love and Thunder.
