As the movie industry continues to try to deal with the fall out of the coronavirus pandemic, there is an oversupply of films on studio shelves and a rapidly depleting inventory of release dates in 2021. With that in mind, several films are looking for new homes. Right now, it appears that spookier fare is heading to home releases as opposed to waiting until next Oct.

It was recently announced that The Craft: Legacy will release digitally, and now Robert Zemeckis’ The Witches is heading to HBO Max.

From the mind of Roald Dahl and as reimagined by acclaimed filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, The Witches is a wickedly fun adventure as a young boy stumbles onto a secret coven of child-hating witches as they plot to turn the world’s children into mice. A fresh Halloween classic for this generation, in a story that celebrates courage, teamwork, and unlikely heroes, offering a completely distinct kids proposition with a quirky, delightfully twisted tone in classic Dahl style.

The film stars Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Chris Rock, and Stanley Tucci and is sure to be a fun romp when it lands in our homes.

The Witches will debut on HBO Max on Oct. 22 and will hit theaters in international markets on Oct. 28.
