Fox is moving forward with two-season renewals for both Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers.

With the fall season in a shambles thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, animation may be one place where networks can still shine at the moment. With that in mind, Family Guy has been renewed through season 20, and Bob’s Burgers will now run through season 13.

Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers are key pillars of our network’s success,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment for Fox Entertainment. “By taking the genre to new heights and driving pop culture in meaningful ways, they’ve laid the foundation for making Animation Domination one of the most powerful program blocks in all of television. Both of these two-season renewals affirm once again our commitment to animation and empower us to continue in our build as the leader in the space with distinct and fresh new comedies. We’d like to thank Seth, Loren and their entire teams, not to mention our partners at 20th Television, and we’re excited to continue these great shows with them.”

It’s always worth looking back at the fact that Family Guy was canceled early on in its run, but thanks to DVD set sales, it was eventually revived. It’s difficult to imagine it will now be with us through at least season 20.

Fox is betting heavily on animation at the moment having purchased Bento Box Entertainment, the company that animated Bob’s Burgers. Expect to see a lot more animation in their future.
