Former MMA fighter-turned-actress Gina Carano has joined the cast of the live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
The cast for the highly anticipated series has been rounding into form over the past couple days. Pedro Pascal was just confirmed to be taking the lead in the series and now he’ll be flanked by Carano who will play an undisclosed role.
Carano first burst onto the scene as an MMA fighter before making her jump into acting. Her first major role was in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire before taking up roles in Fast and Furious 6 and Deadpool.
The Mandalorian is set to take place in the period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens before the First Order is formed. It is being created and written by Jon Favreau and will feature multiple guest directors including Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi and Dope’s Rick Famuyiwa.
The Mandalorian is set to debut when Disney Plus launches in 2019.
