Star Wars Celebration 2020 canceled, set to return in 2022

It’s looking more and more likely that every major pop culture event of 2020 will be canceled as Star Wars Celebration has pulled the plug.

Set to begin in Anaheim on Aug. 27, it was announced on Monday that Star Wars Celebration 2020 has been canceled. The plan currently calls for the event to return to the city in 2022.

Celebration is not typically an annual event, but thanks to the growing number of releases since Disney took over the property, the frequency has increased. The last event was held in 2019 in Chicago.

This is just the latest event to be canceled, and one of the furthest out ones as of yet. The last major event to be canceled was San Diego Comic-Con. While that show is now going online, the same seems unlikely for Celebration.

According to the official site, requests for refunds or transfers of tickets will begin on Monday, June 22, and will run through Aug. 26.
