Disney made the announcement on Thursday afternoon that Soul will now be arriving on Disney Plus on Dec. 25. Unlike the release of Mulan, however, Soul will not require an extra charge.

This is the latest change to a theatrical release that is sure to cause a disturbance in movie theater circuits. Following the move of No Time to Die to 2021, Cineworld/Regal Cinemas was fairly quick to announce it would be shutting down its locations temporarily. AMC and Cinemark have pledged not to close,

With the loss of another major release, one does have to begin to wonder how theaters will be able to support themselves through the remainder of 2020.

But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22, who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.

Soul will hit Disney Plus on Dec. 25.
