Sonic the Hedgehog 2 takes the top spot at the box office

It looks as though no one can stop the power of a hedgehog.

First place went to Sonic The Hedgehog 2 with $71M in the U.S., and $70M in the foreign markets for a global total of $141M.

Morbius came in second place at the box office this weekend with a drop of 74% for a domestic haul of $10.2M. Domestically the film stands at $57M, and globally at $126.37M.

Third place went to the Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum rom-com adventure The Lost City with $9.16M. The new domestic total sits at $68.85M.

Ambulance opened in fourth place with $8.7M.

The Batman took fifth place with $6.5M for a new domestic total of $359M. The global total now stands at $735.1M.

This week’s major release is Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.
