When Riverdale season 3 ended, Luke Perry has passed on in real life, but his character, Fred Andrews, had left town on business. Now, as the series prepares for its season 4 premiere, we will kick things off by addressing the passing of Archie’s dad.
The three images released by The CW show Archie’s friends gathered to support him in two of the images. In the third, Molly Ringwald has returned as Archie’s mom, Mary, and is embracing her son. She had come to Riverdale at the end of season 3 as Fred was out of town, but it’s nice to see the actress is sticking around.
The Riverdale season 4 premiere episode will be entitled “Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam.” We’re going to suggest you have some tissues at the ready as it looks as though it will be bringing all of the feels. Riverdale executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told TVLine recently that the season premiere is “very much a standalone episode.” They’ve earned it, and Luke Perry most definitely has.
Riverdale season 4 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 9.
