Minions: The Rise of Gru and Sing 2 get new dates

With a week since it had to make some tough decisions, Universal Pictures has found new homes for its unseated films.

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to keep movie theaters closed, and film production on hiatus, the studios are doing some restructuring of their schedules. Sony Pictures already did a massive shift, and now it’s time for Universal Pictures to join them.

Last week the studio announced Minions: The Rise of Gru was indefinitely delayed due to the film not yet being completed. The studio has now found a home for it on July 2, 2021. This date was previously occupied by Sing 2, and that film has now moved to Dec. 22, 2021.

Previously the film adaptation of the musical Wicked was due in Dec. 2021, but it has now been put on indefinite hold.

At the rate things are changing, don’t be surprised if you see the majority of studios act as if 2020 didn’t happen on the schedule and everything shoves back a year.
