SiriusXM has thrown down the gauntlet when it comes to free offers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Normally when a company offers a free trial you still need to enter a credit card. If you aren’t careful, you don’t cancel in time and you end up paying for a month of the service. SiriusXM announced on Tuesday that it is going a very different route.

Howard Stern announced during his show on Tuesday that SiriusXM will be free to use from now until May 15. All you have to do is download the SiriusXM app to your phone or head to SiriusXM.com/streamfree, and you can start listening for free without entering any form of payment.

“With so many people asked to stay at home, we are making our full streaming lineup of music, entertainment, news and information easily accessible to everyone,” said Jim Meyer, SiriusXM CEO.  “In the days ahead, we hope it’s a valuable source of information or diversion, a generous mix of fresh live content, and a source of companionship that comes from the hosts on our many shows and channels.  And there was no better way to launch the Stream Free content than with Howard this morning.”

In total, you will have access to 300 channels and thousands of hours of on-demand video. Launching on April 1 will be #StayHome Radio which will be on channel 179 and will feature nothing but happy and uplifting songs.

As free deals go, this is going to be a difficult one to beat.
