In a surprise on Tuesday afternoon, Ryan Reynolds has announced that Hugh Jackman will appear as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, bringing the X-Men fully into the MCU.

“Hey everyone, we’re extremely sad to have missed D23, but we’ve been working very hard on the next Deadpool film for a good long while now,” says Reynolds. “I’ve had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning every Deadpool needs to stand out and stand apart. It’s been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside.”
After talking about how he has no ideas, a man walks through the house in the background. “Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?” Reynolds asks. “Yeah, sure Ryan,” Jackman replies.
Jackman said he was done playing the role of Wolverine following Logan, but both he and Reynolds have lamented how they didn’t get to pair the characters properly. It appears that will now be corrected.
Seeing as the logo of the film features a Wolverine claw slash, we’re suspecting this is more than just a simple cameo.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters on Sept. 6, 2024.
