After several weeks of rumors, it has now been confirmed that Harrison Ford is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Ford, known for his roles as Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, is now joining one of the biggest film series in history. Ford will appear as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in Captain America: New World Order.

Ross was previously portrayed by William Hurt, beginning with The Incredible Hulk in 2008 until Black Widow in 2021. Hurt passed away in March 2022 at the age of 71.

Thunderbolt Ross is best known for his hatred of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. He has been at odds with the Hulk since The Incredible Hulk #1 in 1962. In 2008 he became the Red Hulk as an intelligent counter-measure to the Hulk. He also went on to form the group of supervillains known as the Thunderbolts. With a Thunderbolts movie in the works as well, we suspect Ford will be showing up there as well.

Ford also has the untitled Indiana Jones 5 set to be released in 2023, so it appears the actor will be plenty busy for some time to come.

Captain America: New World Order is due to hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
