It appears that Disney and 21st Century Fox were a bit ambitious thinking the merger would close on January 1, but they weren’t off by much.

Speaking with NBC News in regards to a potential channel blackout of Disney owned properties on Verizon Fios, an update on the deal was slipped in. According to an unnamed executive that spoke with NBC, the deal is expected to be finalized in the final week of January 2019.

As we’ve detailed before, this deal is going to have massive impacts across the world of entertainment. From Disney owning 60 percent of Hulu, inheriting a huge television library, the the X-Men and Fantastic Four possibly joining the MCU. There is a lot happening here, and even after the deal is done it is sure to take years for all of it to be realized.

We’re anxious for this deal to close and get to the fun part: Seeing what Disney does with all of its new toys.
