Netflix announced on Friday – which seems an odd choice – that its hit series Wednesday has been renewed for season 2.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” said series creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar in a statement. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore. Just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first.”
Season 1 of the series debuted on Nov. 23, 2022, and quickly racked up records for the service. Over 1.2 billion minutes were viewed in the first 28 days alone.
No word yet on how many cast members will return, but season 1 featured Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems, and many more.
No word as of yet as to how much involvement Tim Burton will have in season 2. In season 1 he directed four episodes and served as an Executive Producer.
