I’ve been blasting through The Messenger since it went on sale on the Switch this past Black Friday, and I’ve been pretty pleased. It’s a solid throwback to both the 8-bit and 16-bit days and one of the better retro tributes since Shovel Knight.
At about 11 hours long, it does drag in some places for a game of its type, so making it even longer with DLC is the obvious solution, right? Maybe not, but I can’t help but want to try out the first free DLC pack, “Picnic Panic.”
One of the best games of the year is getting DLC. Here's what @messengergame has up its sleeve. #KFGShowcase pic.twitter.com/proKyRxica

The Messenger is available now for the Nintendo Switch and PC. It has garnered a lot of hype as one of the year’s best releases, and as a fan of the days it pays tribute to, I couldn’t be happier with it. Excellent release.
