NBC has opted to go ahead and call Saturday Night Live’s 48th season to an end. The series was to have a new episode on May 6 with Pete Davidson hosting. That episode had already been canceled, but now the network has gone ahead and canceled the episodes planned for May 13 and May 20.

Kieran Culkin was scheduled to host the May 13 episode with musical guest Labrinth. The season finale was to be hosted by Jennifer Coolidge with the Foo Fighters being the musical guest. It is not yet known which SNL cast members would be leaving this season, but they typically receive a send off during the season finale. How this year’s announcement will be made is not yet known.

As to the 49th season of the series, the series typically comes on the air in October, but with some analysts predicting the strike to last all the way into December, we’ll just have to wait for further announcements. Should the strike last to the holidays, we would not see the 49th season until some time in early 2024.
