Ryan Coogler Returning to Write and Direct Black Panther 2

It looks as though it is indeed Wakanda Forever as Ryan Coogler will return to the fictional country to write and direct Black Panther 2.

According to sources speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Coogler has closed the deal to return for a sequel to Black Panther which scored $1.3B at the global box office. Marvel Studios isn’t commenting at this time, and a second outing for T’Challa hasn’t even been confirmed as of yet.

Why do you ask? Oh, that nasty little thing in Avengers: Infinity War when we saw him turn to dust after the snap by Thanos. Officially announcing a Black Panther 2 might give a bit too much away, although a similar situation has already happened with Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Currently, the sources are saying that Black Panther 2 could begin filming in either late 2019 or early 2020, meaning a 2021 release is more than likely the plan. If all goes as expected, however, we’ll see T’Challa in Avengers 4 next May, and he could always appear a few other places before his next solo outing.
