Dave Bautista Eager to Join James Gunn in Suicide Squad 2

When Disney decided to fire embattled director James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista made it known that he wasn’t happy, even threatening to quit Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. (He hasn’t, but it still doesn’t sound like he’s happy with the situation.)

Now, Bautista has made it crystal clear that he’s willing to switch allegiances from Marvel to DC and join Gunn for Suicide Squad 2.

After news broke confirming Gunn would write (and possibly direct) Suicide Squad 2, Bautista tweeted that he was ready to sign on for the project. That’s a pretty big statement and shows how much the actor valued his time with Gunn—the two previously worked on Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

One has to wonder what Disney’s brass thinks of Bautista’s brazen taunting. The actor is an important part of the Guardians franchise and he could be jeopardizing that role. Of course, it might not conflict at all with his role as Drax, although him saying he wants to sign up for Suicide Squad 2 will no doubt ruffle Disney’s feathers.

Bautista’s Drax has become an increasingly important part of the Guardians franchise, so we’re not entirely sure what Disney would do were he to join Suicide Squad 2. Guess we’ll find out in the coming months.
