Warner Bros. has announced that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in talks to return as the Owens sisters in a Practical Magic sequel. Akiva Goldsman, who was a co-writer on the original film, has been tapped to write the followup film.
The original film was released in 1998 and has gone on to a bit of a cult status over the years. The story follows Owen sisters who are part of a family of witches. Things go a bit awry while trying to drug an abusive boyfriend and they find themselves tangled up in an attempt to cover up a death.
The film was based on a 1995 novel by Alice Hoffman. In 2019 there was talk of a series for Max based on Hoffman’s prequel novel, Rules of Magic. That project disappeared somewhere during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Goldsman has gone on to a lot of producing duties over the years, most recently being announced to be working on the Monster High movie.
No timeline for production has been announced as of yet, nor any hints to the potential plot of the film.
