More content is heading to Paramount Plus in the near future, but it’s going to come with a price hike for the service.

Paramount Plus reported its quarterly earnings on Thursday, and it saw a very healthy rise in subscribers as it added 9 million new customers. The news, however, is that customers will be paying more in the not-too-distant future.
The Premium Paramount Plus level will rise from $9.99 to $11.99 a month. The Essential tier, which features ad support, will climb from $4.99 to $5.99 monthly. No definitive date for the price increase has been announced as of yet.
Once the integration is completed, Paramount Plus with Showtime will include all of the linear channel’s hit series such as Billion, The Chi, and Yellowjackets.
Expect to see more announcements such as this in the next few years as streaming services continue to find a path to profitability. Despite the millions of subscribers, the amount being spent on content is making it difficult for any of them to hit profit as of yet. But it also looks like we’re going to see a lot more bundling beginning to happen.
