With the news that One Piece has been renewed for season 2, rumors are already circulating as to who may play some of the upcoming new characters.

Season 1 focused on the first big story arc of the manga – The East Blue Saga – and it looks as though season 2 will cover The Arabasta Saga. One of the key players that should be introduced is Portgas D. Ace, someone with a major connection to Luffy.
While Ace is a pirate, he is not a member of The Straw Hats, and that should be enough hint to you that their relationship is not the friendliest.
Some sleuthing fans think they have figured out who may be playing the fire-powered pirate, though. Emery Kelly (Alexa & Katie) has changed his avatar on Instagram to an image of Ace, and he is now being followed by Inaki Godoy who plays Luffy, and the showrunner Matt Owens. While this may seem somewhat flimsy, it is also how it was discovered that Emily Rudd was playing Nami prior to her involvement being announced.
Season 2 could be bringing a lot of new characters to the series. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has already hinted that we’ll be meeting Tony Tony Chopper. And if he is in this season, that means there is also a good chance that we’ll see his adoptive mother, Dr. Kureha, a character Jamie Lee Curtis has very bluntly stated she wants to play. This should also be the season we meet another member of the Straw Hats with Devil Fruit powers, Nico Robin.
The producers of One Piece have said scripts are already set to go, although Oda has stated they need some more work. All work will have to wait until the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes close, so it could be some time before we see season 2 of One Piece.
