One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda has made the announcement that the live-action adaptation is moving forward with season 2. A video was shared of him making the announcement.

Oda shared, “From here on, it seems to the Straw Hats will need a great doctor…” and ended by showing a sketch of the one and only Tony Tony Chopper. How they will realize him in live-action should be interesting indeed.

One Piece season 1 premiered on Netflix on Aug. 31 to fan and critical approval. Even with that, at a cost of an estimated $18M per episode, it was easy to see why the series still might not have met with a renewal.

While Oda said that work is needed on the scripts, the producers of the series have previously said they were ready to go. All work will have to be held for now as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, but once those are over, work should be able to set sail for the Grand Line.
