Gran Turismo speeds into the top spot at the box office

That sound of engines you heard this weekend was a new movie racing into the top spot at the box office… but with a possible caveat.

First place this weekend went to Gran Turismo with $17.3M. It has been out in some foreign territories and has taken in $36.5M so far for a global total of $53.8M.

Barbie came in second with $17.1M for a new domestic total of $594.8M. It has taken in $745.5M in the foreign markets for a global total of $1.340B off of an estimated budget of $155M. There is some speculation that when the actual totals are announced on Monday that Barbie may end up taking the top spot. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Third place went to Blue Beetle with $12.76M for a new domestic total of $46.3. It has taken in $35.5M at the foreign box office for a global total of $81.8M.

Oppenheimer landed in fourth place with $9M for a new domestic total of $300.02M. It has taken in $477.17M overseas for a global total of $777.19M.

Fifth place went to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem with $6.1M for a new domestic total of $98.14M. It has taken in $37M in the foreign markets for a global total of $135.14M.
