The box office has shown once again that opening weekends aren’t the best barometer for how a movie will hold in its second weekend.
F9 took in $24M, a drop of 66%. The film now stands at $117.1M domestically and $491.5M globally.
Second place went to The Boss Baby: Family Business with $17.36M. This one is notable as it is also available at no extra cost on Peacock right now.
The Forever Purge took third place with $12.75M.
Fourth place went to A Quiet Place: Part II with $4.22M. Domestically it now sits at $144.43M. Globally it sits at $240.83M.
The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard landed in fifth place with $3M, bringing its domestic total to $31.37M. Globally it sits at $45.92M.
The next wide release is Black Widow, Marvel Studios’ first release in just over two years on July 9.
