It seems that perhaps Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) may not be quite as dead as we all thought at the end of Avengers: Infinity War.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Derrickson has finalized a deal to return to direct Doctor Strange 2. The plan is said to call for the film to be written in 2019 with filming to begin in spring 2020. This would more than likely point to a May 2021 release for the film.
Cumberbatch is set to return as the Sorcerer Supreme, and it seems he is set to be joined by Benedict Wong (Wong) and Rachel McAdams (Dr. Christine Palmer).
There is no indication, of course, of who Strange would be facing this time around. With no one ever selected yet to tackle the writing duties, it could be some time before we find out.
The next film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be Captain Marvel on March 8, 2019.
