According to a new report, Cailee Spaeny is circling the lead role in a new Alien film in development at 20th Century Studios.

Deadline is reporting that Spaney – who made her big screen debut in Pacific Rim: Uprising – is in talks to star in a new film in the Alien franchise to be produced by Scott Free.
Spaney is preparing to play Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming Priscilla. No word yet on when that will begin filming.
Where this new Alien film will fall in the timeline is anyone’s guess. There was a gap in the prequel storyline left following the release of Alien: Covenant. There is a chance this new film would fill in that gap, or it maybe something entirely new. As we saw with the recent release of the new Predator movie, Prey, these franchises are primed for unexpected tales in their timelines.
No word on the plot or potential production timelines has been revealed yet, but it does appear that the Alien franchise is back in play.
