Avatar: The Way of Water wins its fifth weekend at the box office

Surprising absolutely no one, James Cameron took the top spot at the box office for a fifth weekend.

First place went to Avatar: The Way of Water with $31.11M for a new domestic total of $562.91M. The international total now stands at $1.33B for a global total of $1.893B.

M3GAN came in second with $17.92M, a very strong hold dropping only 41% from its opening weekend. The new domestic total stands at $56.45M. Combined with its foreign total of $34.22M for a global total of $90.67M off of a $12M budget.

Third place went to Puss in Boots: The Last Wish with $13.4M, bringing its domestic total to $106.36M. The foreign total sits at $141.05M for a global total of $247.42M.

A Man Called Otto landed in fourth place with $12.65M for a new domestic total of $18.87M. Globally it now sits at $33.37M.

Rounding out the top five was Plane with $10.04M.

The wide releases this week are Missing, New Gods: Yang Jian, That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime: Scarlet Bond, Alice, Darling, and Women Talking.
