Prepare for many more fighters, paladins, and rangers in your life as a Dungeons & Dragons series is heading to Paramount Plus.

It seems that Paramount is planning to get deep into the world of Dungeons & Dragons over the next few years. The film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is due in theaters in March, but the company is already planning a TV series based on the game for its Paramount Plus streaming service. Rawson Marshall Thurber (Red Notice) has been tapped to write and direct the first episode of the series.

This isn’t the first time the RPG has found its way to television. From 1983 to 1985, there was an animated series on CBS that ran for 27 episodes. That series has received a lot of nostalgic love from fans over the past several years, but we’re fairly positive this will be a different creature when it arrives.

Dungeons & Dragons first launched in 1974, and by the 1980s quickly found itself a staple of school lunch rooms everywhere. Over the last several years the game has had a massive resurgence thanks to a slew of celebrities sharing their love for the game as well as showing up in TV series such as Stranger Things.

The new Dungeons & Dragons will be a co-production between Paramount and eOne, Hasbro’s entertainment division.
