Apple has shared the first images from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters series, which will tell the history of the group that tracks Godzilla.
Introduced in 2014’s Godzilla, Monarch has remained a shadowy organization that keeps a watchful eye on the Titans. The new Apple Plus series has been in the works for some time, and finally, some information and photos have been shared.
First up is finally learning the title of the series will be Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and we’ve learned a bit more of the cast and plot.
Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will be part of the MonsterVerse series, which currently consists of Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is due for release in 2024.
Just how much we will see of the Titans in the series remains to be seen, but it’s beginning to sound promising.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will premiere globally on Apple TV Plus.
