Lin-Manuel Miranda has reportedly found his next Broadway production, and it looks as though it will be a doozy.

According to Variety, Miranda is working on an adaptation of Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel, The Warriors. This book inspired the 1979 film of the same name, but there are some differences in the names of the gangs and other information. The book is said to be even darker in tone than the film.

Miranda is best known for the award-winning musical Hamilton and created the Tony-winning In the Heights and Bring It On: The Musical. Recently he has been working on music for animated Disney films like Moana and Encanto.

Details on The Warriors are still unknown, but if it keeps strictly to the book as source material, there will be some perplexed audience members. The Furies – the baseball-themed gang in the film – don’t exist in the book. Seeing a take on the story without them will stand out.

There’s no timeline known for the musical, but they are never a quick process to create. Considering his success-rate, however, it will more than likely be worth the wait.
