The price of ESPN Plus is receiving a significant price hike in August unless you are part of the Disney bundle.

ESPN Plus is in for a 43% price hike on Aug. 23. Customers who are on the month-to-month plan will see a jump from $6.99 to $9.99. The annual plan will jump from $69.99 to $99.99. Customers who are part of the Disney bundle – subscribing to Disney Plus, ESPN Plus, and Hulu – will see no change in their pricing.

This follows a price hike in July 2021 that saw the price rise from $5.99 to $6.99.

While the new price is a major jump, it is still competitive in the realm of sports-focused streaming services. DAZN charges $19.99 a month, while regional sports service NESN charges $29.99. Many sports league streaming services charge from $14.99 to $24.99 a month.

This new ESPN Plus price hike does two things for parent company Disney: It is now far more likely consumers will see a value to the bundle, and those that don’t will simply generate more income.

On the other side, however, with sports rights becoming increasingly fractured between services such as ESPN Plus, Paramount Plus, and Peacock, amongst others, it could also be a quite risky move.
