Disney isn’t getting off the live-action remake train any time soon it would seem. A new report says that the studio is preparing a live-action remake of Hercules.

Released in 1997, Hercules told the ancient myth of the demigod Hercules and the trials he faced as the son of Zeus. It grossed $252.7M globally off of an $85M budget.

According to The Disney Insider, Jeffery Silver (The Lion King, Tron: Legacy) and Karen Gilchrist (The Lion King, The Mandalorian) to produce along with the Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame). Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) has been picked up to pen the script.

A director has not been settled upon as of yet, but the rumor is that Jon Favreau is being looked at. Considering his success with The Jungle Book and The Lion King, it isn’t exactly a surprising move. What would be surprising is how many other projects he currently has at Disney right now. Can the studio afford to lock him down to a single directing job? We’ll just have to wait and see.

Everything is very early on this project as of right now, and nothing is set ins tone. And there is no release date as of yet.  We’ll be watching this one for some time to come.
