Lucasfilm has now officially named the nine different ages of the Star Wars Universe: Dawn of the Jedi, The Old Republic, The High Republic, Fall of the Jedi, Rise of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, The New Republic, Rise of the First Order, New Jedi Order. If you aren’t sure which story fits where, the original three films are set in the Age of Rebellion, while The Mandalorian is on the cusp of The New Republic and Rise of the First Order.
With these ages in mind, Lucasfilm announced three new upcoming films set in various time periods.
James Mangold will be directing a film set in the Dawn of the Jedi which will be approximately 25,000 years before the birth of the Empire. It will explore the origins of the very first Jedi that tapped into The Force.
Dave Filoni will be directing a film that will bring together all parts of the growing “Mandoverse” and will focus on the “escalating war between the Imperial Remnant and the New Republic.” Expect to see all the characters we’ve seen across The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka to appear.
And, finally, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy will direct a film set fifteen years after Rise of Skywalker. Daisy Ridley will return as Rey and the story will follow as she builds a new Jedi Order in the last of the nine Ages.
No release dates were announced for these films as of yet, so it’s unclear in which order they will release.
