The Fall Guy takes the top spot at the box office

The summer movie season started with some underwhelming numbers.

First place went to The Fall Guy with $28.5M, coming in under the projections of $30M. It has taken in $36.9M in the foreign markets for a global total of $65.4M.

Star Wars Ep. I: The Phantom Menace took second place with a 25th-anniversary release that brought in $8.08M.

Third place went to Challengers with $7.64M for a new domestic total of $29.46M. It has taken in a further $22.8M overseas for a global total of $52.26M.

Tarot opened in fourth place with $6.5M. It has taken in a further $3.7M in the foreign markets for a total of $10.2M.

Fifth place went to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire with $4.5M for a new domestic total of $188.06M. It has taken in a further $358.8M in foreign markets for a global total of $546.86M.

The wide releases this week are Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Not Another Church Movie.
