Crunchyroll has announced that it is increasing pricing for its two top-tier subscriptions and reducing the length of its free trial.

Crunchyroll announced this week that two of its three membership tiers will be receiving price increases. The Mega Fan tier will increase by $2 a month going from $9.99 to $11.99. The Ultimate Fan tier will increase from $14.99 to $15.99 a month. The price increases will impact users in the United States, Argentina, Colombia, France, and Portugal.

The 14-day free trial is also being reduced from 14-days to seven-days.

The new pricing comes shortly after the company closed down Funimation and incorporated all of its content under the Crunchyroll banner. The company said in a statement that it feels the increased pricing reflects its expanding catalog that now includes more than 45,000 episodes and 1,400 series and films.

As we noted in our Crunchyroll review, the service is essential if you’re a fan of anime, but no one will ever exactly welcome a price increase from their various services. It does seem to be happening more frequently, however, as Peacock also raised its prices this week.
